Fri May 08 12:16:42 CEST 2020 Timsen

Crew stuck on the 'Norwegian Epic' in Miami on May 6, 2020, have been warned against leaking information from the ship, according to leaked audio obtained from a crew member on board. In an "important announcement" broadcast shipwide , a member of the vessel's leadership team told crew that "the communication of written, verbal, photographic, video, or computer material regarding company, guest, employees' activities, operations, or business without permission of the company is prohibited." The member of the ship's leadership team said "such offenses might lead to dismissal from the ship or even prosecution by shoreside authorities." The person who made the announcement added that the policy was both "effective immediately" and had "always been in place" for "the protection of our crew." He also said that anyone taking pictures should always "ask permission" of their fellow crew beforehand.

Investigation report into allision published

Sat Feb 15 21:51:11 CET 2020 Timsen

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) on Feb 14, 2020, has released its report about the allision of the 'Norwegian Epic' with two of the mooring dolphins at San Juan Cruise Port, Pier 3 east, in Puerto Rico on Feb 12, 2019. The NTSB determined that the probable cause of the incident was a lack of communication and coordination between the Master and Pilot, which resulted in a poorly executed docking manoeuvre. The vessel had an inoperable port shaft at the time. According to both the master and pilot, they discussed the docking manoeuvre during their initial master/pilot exchange. Damage to the mooring dolphins and connecting catwalks was estimated at $3.5 million, and damage to the vessel was estimated at $200,000.
