Search for missing crew member suspended
The Coast Guard suspended its search on Oct 27 at 12:15 p.m., for a man who fell overboard from the "Northern JAguar" near Ambrose Channel, New York, the previous morning. Coast Guard crews searched for over 24 hours and covered more than 460 square miles for the missing 35-year-old man who was reportedly wearing an orange jumpsuit. On Oct 26 at approximately 8:30 a.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New York received a mayday call from the container ship reporting that a crewmember had fallen overboard while arranging a pilot ladder in 15-foot seas, and 35 mile per hour winds. The search was suspended pending any further developments.

the "Northern Jaguar" lost a man overboard in the Ambrose Channel on Oct 27, 2018. The 35 year old man was wearing an orange work suit and no life jacket. At approximately 8:30 a.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New York received a mayday call from the container ship reporting that a crewmember had fallen overboard while arranging a pilot ladder in heavy sea conditions. The Coast Guard Cutter "Shrike", an 87-foot cutter homeported in Sandy Hook, New Jersey, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from the Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, New Jersey, an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from the Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Massachusetts, were deployed to search for the man. The Coast Guard requested that all mariners in the area keep an eye out for the missing person. The "Northern Jaguar" berthed at Newport in New York on Oct 28 at 2.30 a.m. She had come from Singapore.
