Pregnant woman medevaced off St. Paul

Wed Aug 12 09:24:17 CEST 2020 Timsen

A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak aircrew medevaced a pregnant crewmember from the 'Northern Jaeger' 200 miles northwest of St. Paul, Alaska, on Aug 8, 2020. In the morning, the District 17 Command Center personnel received a medevac request from the captain of the fish factory for a 22-year-old female crew member who was experiencing medical complications due to pregnancy approximately 200 miles northwest of St. Paul. The MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew safely hoisted and transported the woman to Cold Bay for further medical care at 2.5 p.m. She was transferred her to a LifeMed flight team, who then transported the patient to higher medical care. An Air Station Kodiak aircrew aboard a HC-130J Super Hercules aircraft also provided support throughout the transfer.

25 crew members of two trawlers tested positive for COVID-19

Fri Jun 05 12:42:29 CEST 2020 Timsen

25 crew members on the two American Seafoods vessels 'American Triumph' and 'Northern Jaeger', being docked in Bellingham have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Whatcom County Health Department, in the evening of June 4 , 2020. The crew members will be isolated at the county’s quarantine facility on Byron Avenue in Bellingham. American Seafoods had announced on June 3, that crew members on the two vessels were being tested for the new coronavirus as a precautionary measure after docking on June 3 in Bellingham to offload product. 86 crew members of the 'American Dynasty' already tested positive for COVID-19 after it docked in Bellingham on May 28. One crew member was admitted to St. Joseph hospital. The rest of the Seattle-based crew did not show symptoms of the disease and stayed on the ship when it was in Bellingham. The 'American Dynasty' returned to the Port of Seattle and was under quarantine there. The crew has access to any required medical care. Preparedness procedures in the event of a virus outbreak were put in place. All crew members were screened and tested through the University of Washington before they boarded a vessel. The Whatcom County Health Department and Whatcom Unified Command, the multi-governmental agency that’s directing local pandemic response, were partnering with American Seafoods and the Washington State Department of Health to mitigate and prevent further spread of the disease.
