Fire in engine room soon contained
In the foremidday of June 29, 2017, a fire broke out in the engine room of the "Nordnorge" in Trondheim where the ship had berthed at 8.50 a.m. The police was notified at 11.07 a.m. The fire was quickly extinguished by the crew in cooperation with the local fire department. Three of the crew were subsequently checked by healthcare professionals for suspected smoke inhalation. There were 367 passengers and a crew of 69 aboard the ship. Many of the guests were on shore when the fire started, and there was no need to evacuate neither passengers nor crew. Assistance of lifeboat due to fouled propeller aborted after f/v sank
The Svolvær-based lifeboat “Sundt Flyer” was called to assist the "Nordnorge" on Mar 18, 2015, after a rope got entangled in the bow thruster. While divers were attempting to clear the propulsion in the port of Svolvær, the lifeboat was alerted to the f/v “Siguard” from Borkenes, which had run onto a rock off Osanpollen in Vågan and had sunk on a water depth of 10 meters. The work at the ferry propeller was aborted and the lifeboat deployed to the scene where a father and his son, who had delivered fish to Osan, could be saved from the water with mild hypothermia.
