Whitefish trawler sold to Murmansk
The fishing company Sildarvinnslan (SVN) announced it has agreed the sale of the "Bardi NK 120" to a company based in Murmansk, Russia. The "Bardi" began fishing whitefish for SVN in 2002, when it was kitted out to land fresh cod. Later the vessel was adapted to freeze catches at sea, but in 2016 it was stripped of equipment and put up for sale. Its new skipper, Rinat Ulyukaev, will take the vessel to Kirkenes to have shrimp-fishing equipment installed, before heading to Murmansk. The vessel will fish in the northern oceans. The company planned to build four new trawlers, to replace the "Bardi", "Gullver", which SVN inherited when it merged with Gullberg in 2016 as well as the "estmannaey" and "Bergey", which are operated by subsidiary company Bergur-Huginn.
