Work ship to participate in salvage of dozens of yachts in Kiel
On Oct 23, 2023, the 'Noorcat' entered the Olympic Port of Kiel Schilksee in order to raise several yachts which had sunk in the violent storm on Oct 20. At least 35 boats have sunk inside the marina, among them a number of larger motor yachts. It was unknown how long the salvage work would take. Also the number of wrecks could still rise as not all of them remained visible, and the bottom of the harbour has not yet been checked completely. Some may also have drifted away into deeper waters. Until Oct 20, 20 yachts and boats were recovered, about half of the number of ships which sank in Kiel-Schilksee.
