Ferry delayed due to missing crew member

Fri Jun 07 21:35:42 CEST 2024 Timsen

In the morning of June 7, 2024, the Port Authority of Kalymnos was informed by the Master of the 'Nisos Kalymnos', which was due to sail for Leros-Leipsos-Patmos-Arkios-Agathonisi-Pythagorion and return, that a crew member did not come to take over his duty. The Port Authority of Kalymnos, which was conducting the preliminary investigation, initially prohibited the sailing of the ferry due to an insufficient composition of the crew, while after the restoration of its composition, it was allowed to sail for the execution of the planned itinerary.

Propeller obstructed by floating cable

Tue Aug 18 21:21:49 CEST 2020 Timsen

The 'Nissos Kalymnos', while en route from Kalymnos to Pythogorion, got a floating cable entangled in its starboard propeller, before it entered the port of Patmos in the morning of Aug 17, 2020. The ship had on board 21 passengers, while 39 were waiting to board at Patmos. Upon the arrival at Patmos, a diver was employed to survey the vessel. He found the cable, disengaged it from the propeller and reported that there was no further damage to the propulsion or the hull. The departure of the ferry was initially prohibited by the Port Authority, but after the presentation of a class maintenance certificate by the classification society that monitors it, the ship could resume its schedule.
