Former Sea Pioneer left Amsterdam

Sun Mar 25 18:50:56 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "Sea Pioneer", now renamed "Ocean Legacy", has left the port of Amsterdam after four months and passed Ijmuiden on March 24, 2018, bound to Klaipeda, ETA March 29. Since December 6, 2017, the ship had been stationary, with the crew still on board. At an auction in the USA, about eight million euros were paid for the ship of the Bondi Ship Holding.

Detained tanker sold at auction

Wed Mar 14 10:45:52 CET 2018 Timsen

The crew of the "Sea Pioneer" will be repatriated from Amsterdam after the ship has been sold. Actually 11 men remained on board after seven sailors have already left. they can prepare for departure to the Philippines or Pakistan after the tanker been sold at a foreclosure auction for eight million Euros. The ship had been detained due to a debt of almost 11 million Euros by an American creditor of the ship owner Bondi Ship Holding, based in Greece, on Dec 6, 2017. It was not known how long the transfer will take and when the ship will sail. Probably the new owner will fly in an own crew.

December salaries paid

Wed Jan 31 11:39:01 CET 2018 Timsen

The 18 crew members of the "Sea Pioneer" which has been moored in the Amsterdam port since Dec 6, 2017, has finally been paid the salaries for December which they desperately needed to support their families in the Philippines and in Pakistan. They hoped that the January salary would also be paid quickly. A creditor has seized the ship which will remain in port until a buyer has been found for the ship. How long this may take was still unknown. Until a few weeks ago the conditions on board were poor. Apart from the absence of the salary, the heating in large parts of the ship was turned off to save fuel. The crew was also allowed to make only limited use of hot water. Meanwhile, these restrictions have been lifted. SIM cards, clothing and food was made available, the men have been taken away from the ship for free a few times and were even allowed to shower in a nearby hotel. On Jan 31, inspectors from the International Transport Workers Federation will once again board the tanker to see how the situation is.
