Service ship recovered wreck in Straumsford

The wreck of the Norwegian 32-ft-fishing vessel ‘Dyphav – T-4-BG‘ which had sunk in the Straumsfjord on April 8, was recovered by the 'Niklas' on April 11. The crew of two had been saved in a large scale SAR operation after their ship foundered in stormy seas enroute from Balsfjord to Botnhamn to deliver its catch. The service ship 'Niklas‘ of the Finnsnes Dykk & Anleggservice was tasked with the recovery soon after. Work started on April 9, but strong currents, low visibility and muddy bottom made the work complicated. The ROV which was deployed to prepare the lifting operation, whirled up the sediment with its propeller. But in the end, however, the wreck was brought back to daylight. Service boat suffered gear failure

On June 25, 2016, the "Niklas" suffered gear failure when leaving the port of Harstad bound to Finnsnes. Coming from the way from the shipyard in Fitjar, the ship made a stop to take on board some ropes. A service technician had to be called to rectify the problems. It was hoped to be able to sail in the night of June 26, but on June 27 the ship was still berthed in Harstad.
