2 missing sailors bodies traced in Malaysia
The bodies of two crew members of Bangladeshi cargo vessel MV Hope have been traced at a Malaysian hospital over two months after they went missing. The authorities were yet to confirm the names of the duo, but Captain Mohiuddin Abdul Quadir, a representative of the ship owner's insurance firm, has primarily gave their identities as Md Nazam Uddin, 30, and Ali Hossain, 57. Trade Breeze Shipping Ltd, the owner firm of the vessel, on Monday, Sept. 9 sent a request letter to the government to collect DNA sample of the missing crew members from their families to verify the identity of the two bodies. MV Hope, carrying 5500 tonnes of ball clay and heading for Chittagong Port, tilted in the early hours on July 4 in the Andaman Sea on July 4. As the ship started tilting, all the 17 crew members, hailing from Bangladesh, abandoned it with lifeboats fearing it might capsize. Later, nine of the sailors were rescued and two bodies recovered. Trade Breeze Shipping Ltd on Monday said the bodies were kept in Bahia Hospital in Malaysia, reports our Chittagong correspondent. Fishermen found the bodies in the Andaman Sea on July 20 and handed them over to Langkawi port authorities in Malaysia, Capt Quadir said. Later on July 28 the port authorities sent the bodies to Bahia Hospital, he added.
