Sydney Marie released
The Inspectie Verkeer en Waterstaat/Scheepvaart (IVW) in Bonaire released the "Sydney Marie" on Aug 11, 2011, and the ship left for Trinidad. The ship had been detained on July 29 due to several defiencies. Meanwhile repairs have been carried out.
"Sydney Marie" detained in Bonaire
The "Sydney Marie" was detained in Bonaire because an inspection revealed too many defiencies. The ship had entered the port to take a cargo of salt destined for Trinidad and Tobago. The vessel showed serious shortcomings that could pose a threat to maritime safety and the environment and did not meet the minimum requirements of international laws regarding navigation, safety equipment and safety. The maritime authorities of Panama were requested to do the necessary checks and repairs. The "Sydney Marie" will then again be inspected by the Inspectie Verkeer en Waterstaat/Scheepvaart (IVW) and be assessed whether the ship is seaworthy and safe.
