Tanker handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
The MT 'Platform', suspected of oil theft, was handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Oct 18, 2022 for further investigation and possible prosecution by the Nigerian Navy. Commanding officer of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base, Bonny, Nigeria disclosed that the MT 'Platform' was intercepted and arrested on June 8, in the vicinity of the Bonny Anchorage for illegal dealing in petroleum products without license. According to the Navy commanding officer, the vessel neither had any authority or certificate from the appropriate authority to operate in Nigerian waters. The vessel and crew were received on behalf of the EFCC by Deputy Superintendent of the EFCC of the Port Harcourt Zonal Command.
