11 crew members with coronavirus
11 crew members of the 'MSC Flavia' were tested positive for the coronavirus on June 26, 2020, upon the arrival at Ningbo anchorage, coming from Hong Kong, where nine of them had signed in, arriving from Indonesia, Greece and Croatia. Of the 11 infected crew members, two had higher-than-normal temperature, the rest are was asymptomatic. The ship was allowed to berth on July 1.
Medevac off Bay Area
The California Air National Guard’s Silicon Valley unit medevaced a 54-year-old Croatian man from the "MSC Flavia" on March 3, 2018, 675 nautical miles off the Bay Area’s coast. He was suffering from a life-threatening illness, but could be stabilized and transported to the San Jose Regional Medical Center. The rescue was part of a joint operation that included the U.S Coast Guard, the Air Force and the U.S. Marine Corps. Storm damage and container loss on Pacific
The "MSC Flavia"was damaged by a storm during passage of Pacific Ocean en route from Xiamen, where she had sailed on Oct 20, to Los Angeles. The vessel reported several hull damages and unspecified number of lost containers due to storm in the Mid-Pacific. The ship was hit by a storm with heavy winds and big swell with waves heights of over 10 meters. There were sufficient damages of the vessel’s hull and containers carried on board, and some more were lost at sea. The container carrier remained seaworthy and successfully arrived on Nov 9 and berthed at the APM Terminals around 4 p.m. The ship left port again on Nov 15 bound for Ningbo.
