Container ship boarded by perpetrators
The 'Atlantic Discoverer' was boarded by perpetrators in the evening of Jan 19, 2020, in Gulf of Guinea, SW of Lagos. The Duty Officer spotted two armed pirates on the main deck, resulting in the main deck lights being switched on and the vessel proceeding to the west at full speed. As the vessel began to make way, a small craft with a ladder was seen departing the scene. All crew members were accounted for. The ship was adrift for five hours and resumed sailing westward shortly after the attack. On Jan 20 at 11.50 a.m. the ship moored off Tema in pos. 05° 33.08' N 000° 5.43' E.
