Oldenburg hit by Berolina

Underway to the loading quay in Brake the Polish flagged, self propelled barge "Berolina", 710 ts (EU-Nr.: 8348095), allided with the „Oldenburg“, 1085 ts (EU-Nr.: 05306080). The vessel, while backing to the berth on Mar 6, 2014, was caught by the current on the Weser and allided with the other barge at the quay. This was hit at the foreship near the anchor and suffered dents and scratches at the bow. During the turning manoever the "Berolina" then allided with the quay itself several times. The police was called and breathalyzed the crew. The master was found to have a level of 0,98 per mille, his deckhand 0,95 per mille. The officers also remarked buckets with oil sludge in the engine room. The master had to pay a safety deposit of 1.130 Euro, the deckhand 630 Euro. The ship was detained.
