Injured crew member medevaced off Pecan Island
The US Coast Guard medevaced an injured crewmember from the 'MS Kerci' in the evening of April 29, 2022, approximately 17 miles south of Pecan Island, Louisiana. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders were notified at 8:15 p.m. that a male crewmember in his 30s, aboard the dive support vessel sustained severe injuries to the leg. Watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew to assist. The Dolphin aircrew arrived on scene, hoisted the individual and transferred him to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at the Lafayette Regional Airport. The crew member was last reported to be in stable condition.
Crew members of dive vessel injured in pipeline rupture
Two crew members of the "Ms. Kerci" were injured after a natural gas pipeline ruptured about 25 miles south of Marsh Island. The rupture caused the pipeline to catch fire, and two crew members aboard the vessel were injured and escorted to Houma. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received notification of the rupture and subsequent fire around 8:30 p.m. on Aug 26, 2015, and launched a HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing aircraft crew from Aviation Training Center Mobile to monitor the situation. The fire has since been extinguished. The "Ms. Kerci was working on the pipeline at the time of the rupture. The pipeline's owner, Boardwalk/Gulf South Pipeline Co., sent out a second vessel to repair the ruptured pipeline.
