City Cruiser slammed into London's tower bridge
Nine people have been injured after the "Millennium Diamond" crashed into Tower Bridge in London on June 4, 2014, at 11.55 a.m. One woman suffered serious injuries and a further eight people were needing medical treatment. The woman, aged 64, was treated by the RNLI by giving her oxygen and using blankets to keep her warm, as well as dressing her wound and placing her on a board to protect her spine ,before she was taken as a priority to the Royal London Hospital for treatment for pelvic and head injuries. She was believed to have tumbled down a flight of metal stairs aboard the boat upon impact. The Tower Lifeboat crew was tasked by the London Coastguard to reports that the city cruise vessel had allided with the Tower Bridge. The vessel moored at St Katharine's pier after the accident where the London Ambulance Service staff treated the patients. Four women were treated for minor injuries and taken to the Royal London Hospital. A man and a girl were treated for minor injuries and made their own way to hospital. Two other women were checked over at the scene but did not require further treatment at hospital. There were 126 passengers on board during the service from Greenwich to Tower Pier. All safely removed from the boat. It was unclear what caused the collision but the vessel has returned to the company's headquarter. Police with the Met's marine unit and paramedics inspected the boat there. The other services remained in operation.
