Detained ship released
The 'Grace Felix', which had been seized by the Albanian police along with other law enforcement agencies off Romano port, near Durres on Feb 20, 2023, under suspicion that its petroleum cargo was from Russia, has been released. The first-instance court of general jurisdiction in Durres decided to release the vessel and its cargo after had been detained in the anchorage of Romano Port for almost nine months. The vessel departed from the anchorage on Dec 23 fo orders.
Tanker arrested off Durres for carrying Russian oil
On Feb 28 the authorities boarded the 'Grace Felix' and presented an order of detention of the vessel, issued by the Prosecution Office. The vessel was officially detained at the Durres anchorage in the Romano Port area, where it had anchored in pos. 41° 16.64' N 019° 24.50' E since Feb 14, due to suspicions that the cargo of 22,500 metric tonnes of diesel was originating from Russia. The authorities boarded the vessel on Feb 18 and interrogated the Master. The owners have appointed a lawyer to assist them and were in process to issue him a Power of Attorney so he may start meetings with authorities and obtain more accurate information in legal channels.
Tanker seized for suspicion of carrying Russian oil
The Albanian police along with other law enforcement agencies on Feb 20, 2023, seized the 'Grace Felix', with 22,500 tonnes of petroleum as cargo on board, off Romano portnear Durres and arrested the 22 crew members, suspecting that the vessel's cargo was from Russia. The petroleum has a market value of more than 40 million Euros. According to the Albanian police, the tanker reportedly claimed to have been supplied with the petroleum in Kalamata from another tanker, but the alibi was not enough to convince the Albanian authorities who believed the cargo originated in Russia.
