Technical failure in Canakkale Strait
The "Medkon Izmir", en route from Nemrut Bay via Aliaga to Evyap, suffered a technical failure during the transit of the Canakkale Strait on pril 6, 2019, at 2 a.m. It dropped anchor at the Karanlik Liman anchorage within the strait. Repairs were carried out by the crew, and the ship berthed at the Evyaport Container Terminal in Izmit on April 7 at 8.40 a.m.
Damaged cargo ship towed to Tuzla
The "Medkon Izmir" suffered engine failure at Alexandria around June 15, 2018. After it turned out that repairs could not be carried out by the crew, the tug "Paris" was appointed to tow the vessel to the Tuzla shipyard area. On June 26 the ships arrived at Tuzla anchorage. Upon completion of formalities, the "Medkon Izmir" entered a shipyard at noon. A class surveyor went on board in order to ascertain extent of damages and methods of repairs. The ship left the yard on Aug 10 at 10.30 a.m. and berthed in Izmit the same day at 5.15 p.m. as first port of call after repairs.
