First officer fell from pilot ladder and died

The 1st Officer of the 'Mathilde Oldendorff', Selçuk Elibol, died after falling onto the pier in Tianjin Port on Jan 29, 2022. The accident happened while trying to read the ship's drafts from the ship, using a pilot ladder from the shore side of the berthed ship, because the port authorities did not allow him on the shore due to Covid-19 restrictions. After he slippd off and fell, the crew was prohibited to assist him after the accident. Paramedics found him already dead. His body is to be shipped to Turkey after completion of formalities. The ship had arrived in poret on Jan 28 and sailed again on Jan 31 at 1 a.m., headed to Port Hedland with an ETA as of Feb 15.
