MASTRONIKOS II 9034494
On Nov 7, 2010, the Cowes chain ferry was hit by the "Windstar", bound from Cowes to Amsterdam. One or both chains of the ferry were damaged whenthe Windstar passed the crossing on Nov 6 at 8.30 p.m. Ferry staff are waiting for the chains to be replaced before the service can recommence likely on 9th November. Work was being carried out on the chain on Nov 7, and there’s a chance that the works might go ahead faster than expected, but the process was hindered by the ebb tide as they can’t access the box with the mechanicals in it. As replacement a launch is operating for foot passengers wishing to cross the water but no service is in place for vehicles.
