Barge threatened to sink on the Ruhr
In the morning of Feb 14, 2016, the "Malesri", 1246 ts (EU-No.: 02314227) was threatened to sink on the Ruhr off the lock Pontwert around 8 a.m. The ship obviously had touched bottom at the stones of the shore and suffered leaks in the bow. As the ship's own pumps were unable to cope with the flooding, the master alerted the fire rescue which attended with a fire boat and divers and on the whole 20 forces. Oil booms were kept ready. The leaks could be sealed with a sail so far that the water ingress was under control and the ship able to continue to Duisburg to unload ist cargo of scrap metal.
