In the afternoon of Jan 26, a patrol boat of the Greek Coast Guard approached the wreck and boarded it with an auxiliary inflatable boat which secured the travel documents of the crew, as well as the documents of the ship, which were then handed out to the Port Authority. The Port Authorities of Chania and Kissamos laid out an anti pollution dam of about 150 meters length and oil absorbants in the grounding area. Following the improvement of the weather conditions, an anti-pollution boat set sail from the port of Chania to lay out a floating dam around the ship. The Cassamos Port Authority, which carried out the preliminary investigation in collaboration with the Central Port Authority of Chania, arrested the Master and the Engineer of the ship, while the process of imposing the prescribed administrative sanctions was initiated.
