Seaman sues for $5 million after falling down ship's ladder
After falling down a ship's ladder and sustaining an injury to her face, a seaman has filed a $5 million lawsuit against her employer. Audrey Brown filed suit against Maersk Line Limited on Dec. 19 in federal court in New Orleans. The alleged incident occurred on Jan. 1, 2010 while Brown was employed as a seaman aboard the M/V Maersk Texas. Brown allegedly sustained a degloving laceration injury to her face, permanent nerve damage and mental injury. The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to furnish a safe place to work and for the unseaworthiness of the M/V Maersk Texas.
