HullWiper delivers 100 hull cleans for Maersk Line

Mon Nov 07 11:36:32 CET 2016 arnekiel

HullWiper, GAC EnvironHull’s diver-free hull cleaning technology, has completed its 100th clean for Maersk Line. The clean was conducted on the Maersk Ganges in the Jebel Ali Container Terminal, Dubai. The HullWiper Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective hull cleaning solution that employs unique brushless cleaning technology. It uses high-pressure seawater to avoid damage to the antifouling surface on the hull. Debris is collected in a special waste filter unit and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. It also removes the need to employ divers, reducing operational costs and the risk to human life. http://www.hellenicshippingnews.com/hullwiper-delivers-100-hull-cleans-for-maersk-line/

Crew members talk about ordeal

Tue May 12 10:32:39 CEST 2015 Timsen

After the "Maersk Tigris" arrived at her original destination Dubai in the evening of May 8, reports have emerged that the crew were held captive under armed guard. A crew member described the ship’s port arrest in Iran for a week as an ordeal and that the Iranian security officials who forcibly boarded the ship in international waters acted like pirates. Intelligence suggested it has been boarded and commandeered by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. They had remained onboard the ship for the entire week and kept the crew under armed guard. The United States and Denmark condemned the seizure of the ship as illegal and the US Navy implemented a policy of accompanying American and British ships through the Strait of Hormuz. That mission has been suspended following the release of the "Maersk Tigris".
