Medevac off the Eider
On Aug 16, 2017, at 4.45 p.m. the "Madonna" alerted the MRCC of the DGzRS in Bremen after a crew member had suffered severe hand injurey with the left thumb having been torn off. The ship was 20 miles west of the Eider Barrier on thee Northsea. The lifeboat "Paul Neisse" of the station Eiderdamm was deployed with an emergency doctor and a rescue assistant on board who had been transported to the station by the helicopter "Christoph Europa 5“ from Niebüll. The shrimper met the lifeboat at buoy 20 on the outer Eider where the lifeboat went alongside and the 39 year old patient could receive initial treatment. He was then medevaced on a stretcher and taken to the Eider Barrier where the helicopter took him on noard and transported him to a hospital in Hamburg.
