Crew members returned home 4 years after having been captured

Thu Jun 12 11:12:22 CEST 2014 Timsen

Seven Bangladeshi crew members abducted by Somali pirates four years ago on the "Albedo" home early on June 12. The group arrived at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 8:40 a.m. LT and were received by senior government officials. The seven crew and another four from India, Iran and Sri Lanka were freed by the pirates on June 6. The Bangladeshis were released by their captors last week following efforts by the government and international organisations. Seven of the ship's 23-member crew were released in 2012 while four others drowned when the ship sank in 2013. 11 crew of the vessel had been released with no ransom paid. Hostages freed

Sun Jun 08 22:59:12 CEST 2014 Timsen

Seven sailors from Bangladesh, two from Sri Lanka, one from India and one from the Iran who had been the Crew of the "Albedo" and were Held captive since November 2010, have freed in Somalia. One crew member was shot, while four others drowned. They were held captive ashore under very poor conditionsa after the ship sank in a storm in July 2013. The men escaped with the help of some of their pirate captors in the early hours of June 6 morning and fled to a nearby village where they were taken in by government-affiliated milita. Few of them had shoes, some had only their underclothes, but they managed to escape through a window and reach a place of safety. They were collected and accomodated in a Hotel. Naham 3 run ashore on Somalian beach, no hint regarding missing Albedo-hostages

Sat Aug 24 21:43:55 CEST 2013 Timsen

A Spanish Maritime Patrol Aircraft overflew the pirate controlled "Naham 3" which had been tied to the "Albedo" until some day after its sinking on July 7, and observed that the vessel had moved from its sea anchorage to a Somali beach in the Galmudug region. The "Naham 3" has been under the control of armed pirates since it was hijacked in the Indian Ocean on March 26, 2012 with 28 crewmembers. She had been tethered to the "Albedo", which was pirated in November 2010, for several months. Since the sinking the "Naham 3" has been sighted sailing up and down the coast or at anchor. The fate of the "Albedo"’s 15 crewmembers was yet to be confirmed following her sinking. Four crewmembers were feared killed when the vessel sank and a later report from the Secretariat for Regional Maritime Security indicated that 11 crewmembers were still alive and being held on the "Naham 3", along with her 28 crewmembers. Since then, the Naham 3 has been under close watch by EUNAVFOR patrols. Recent aerial photographs have shown pirates wielding their weapons on the upper deck of the dilapidated fishing vessel, but no hostages have been seen in or near the vessel. EUNAVFOR believed that negotiations are on-going between a hostage support program and the pirates to try and secure the safe release of the hostages.
