Half of the lost containers located

Fri Sep 08 11:28:08 CEST 2017 Timsen

21 of the 46 containers that fell into the sea from the "Log In Pantanal" on Aug 11 in Barra de Santos have already been mapped by Log-In, owner of the freighter, until Sep 7. Four have already been recovered. The remainder was located by the company in the vicinity of the accident. For seven of them, the salvage plans have already been developed, however, with no deadline to occur. All were in the vicinity of Barra de Santos. Each container will have a specific plan for its removal. Ibama gave a period of 30 days for the owner to recover all objects and to inform about the whereabouts of each one of them. Cleaning work in the coastal region of São Paulo, according to IBAMA's agent, continued in the region and there is still no forecast to end. The metal boxes and the goods that were being transported were found at several points of the Paulista Coast after the accident. After leaving a terminal at the port of Santos on Aug 10, the "Log In Pantanal" had been waiting in an area off the coast of Guarujá to berth at another facility when the cargo loss occurred the following night in waves that exceeded four meters. Some containers were opened and the contencts were spread. Local residents went go to the scene with boats and picked up the items - which was fought by law enforcement. Among the goods collected from the water were backpacks, bicycles and air conditioners.
