Vessel overloaded in Brunsbüttel
On Jan 30, 2020, at 9.20 a.m. the 'Lina', enroute from St. Petersburg to Leixoes, was subject of a control of the water police Brunsbüttel upon entering the Northern lock towards the Elbe. The officers found out that the ship was overloaded. It was carrying 5.000 tons 5000 tons of carbon steel shavings and was overloaded by 170 tons. At 11.15 a.m. it backed out of the lock again and was moored at the railway station pilings in the canal port of Brunsbüttel where it was detained until the overload has been removed. The vessel berthed in the Elbe Port in Brunsbüttel on Feb 2 at midnight in order to remove the overload and get the draught corrected. The ship finally sailed on Feb 3 at 2.30 p.m. after the excessive cargo had been unloaded. It was due to arrive in Leixoes on Feb 8 at 11 p.m. now. An investigation was launched against the master, and he had to pay a safety deposit of 5.100 Euros.
Ship arrested in Wismar due to outstanding wages
The "Don 1" has been arrested in the port of Wismar due to a dispute regarding outstanding wages for the crew. The crew of 20 had not received wages for a longer time and sought help of the ITF which sent an inspector from Rostock. The ship had been held in port since Nov 9, 2014. On Nov 20 the wages were paid after some negitiations and new contracts entered. The ship was then released and left the port bound for Tripoli with an ETA as of Dec 7.
