Allision with fairway buoy following engine failure
Coming from Sölvesborg, the "Lianne" allided with a fairway buoy on the lower Weser in the foremidday of Mar 2, 2014. The buoy was pushed 400 meters off its position. The ship was about to turn around in order to enter the port of Nordenham with the incoming tide stream. During this manoever the ship suffered an engine failure and was drifted against the buoy in spite of the attempts to stop it by an emergency anchoring. The crew was able to start the engine again and docked at the quay of Rhenus S at 11.30 a.m. The buoy meanwhile was lying amid the fairway and had to be repositioned by a buoy layer of the Port Authority in Bremerhaven. Police officers from Brake launched an investigation against the Lithuanian captain of the "Lianne" who had to pay a fine.
Lianne free again
The "Lianne" could be refloated with own power on Mar 19 at 9.15 a.m. in the Limfjord east of the Aggersund Bridge. The ship continued its voyage to Nykøbing Mors. Here it will be detained by Søfartsstyrelsen for surveys of the hull by a diver team.
Grounding in the Limfjord
Enroute Västerås-Nykøbing with a cargo of grain the "Lianne" ran aground on a sand bar in the middle of the fairway just east of the Aggersund Bridge in the Limfjord in the morning of Mar 18, 2012. The "Lianne" had a pilot on board when the grounding occurred. According to the map there should have been enough water depth, so the grounding might be caused by sand shift on the bottom. A sand dredger was cakked in order to suck the sand under the coaster enabling it to refloat, but to no avail yet. Another attempt to pull off the ship will be undertaken at high tide on Mar 19.
