Allision disabled ferry
Sailings between Lolland and Langeland had to be suspended in the afternoon of Sep 14, 2018. The "Langeland" on the route between Tårs on Lolland and Spodsberg allided with the breakwater during the entry to Spidsbjerg at 1 p.m. The ferry had turned when the accident happened as she did not reverse as she should have done. There was damage to four cars that were on the deck, but no one have been injured. The cars and passengers were allowed to leave shortly after the accident. The Danish Maritime Authority detained the ferry for investigatiions. She was released by the authorities shortly after 5 p.m. While there have been no major damage, it was large enough for the shipping company to send the ferry directly to the yard in Svendborg. It will take a few days before she is back in operation again. The "Lolland" was to be inserted as a replacement in the evening. The accident meant that there were a lot of queues in both portsl. All those who could not come by the ferry that they can get their tickets refunded. The ship left the repair yard in in Svendborg on Sep 21 at 9.20 a.m. and resumed its schedule Spodsbjerg-Tars the same day at 12.30 p.m.
Langeland rescued four tourists from the water
The "Langeland" rescued four Dutch tourists who capsized in their small vessel off the north Zealand coast between Spodsbjerg and Tårs in the morning of May 24, 2017, around 6 a.m. The tourista, who were all in good health, were picked up after spending about 15 minutes in the water. After the Danish Defence had received a report about the mishap, it called on all ships in the area to assist and got a message from the Ferry that it had spotted the four tourists. “They were then picked up and were all in good health. Allision in Spodsbjerg
On Feb 3, 2017, the "Langeland", coming from Tårs, was in allision with a breakwater at Spodsbjerg and suffered damage to the bow visor at one ship's ends. She was taken out of service for the rest of the day and also on Feb 4. Sailings were taken over every two hours by the replacement ferry "Lolland". The "Langeland" was sent to the Petersen & Sørensen Motorværksted A/S in Svendborg for repairs. The accident required an emergency welding repairs which were carried alongside in Svendborg. After three hours the ferry was back at Langeland in the late afternoon. Dense fog contributed to the accident.
