Lift incident injured two
On Oct 1, 2024 at 09.25 a.m. the Nordland police district received a report of an accident at work on the 'Landegode', which was docked at Burøya, in connection with the use of a lift. There were two people involved. One of them has been taken to the hospital for a further check. Both were conscious and alert after the incident. The police attended on scene and carried out an investigation. The Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority has also been notified of the incident.
Ferry adrift after engine failure
About half an hour after the "Landegode" sailed from Moskenes on June 5, 2019, at 7.40 a.m., being bound to Bodø, the vessel suffered engine problems and was temporarily disabled before resuming speed slowly after a gas pipe had burst and was leaking. The ship which had 155 passengers and a crew of 13 on board, was using the auxiliary engine, and the captain initially expected to have rectified the fault within an hour. But then it turned out that a repair was not possible, and so the ship at 8.30 a.m. continued its way with reduced speed to Bodø with an ETA around noon. But at 10 a.m. the ferry lost all engine power in pos. 67° 33.36' N 013° 43.90' E, north of Helligvær, and the captain called a lifeboat to assist. There was no danger of the ferry drifting ashore since she was 1,5 driving hours off the next coast. The lifeboat "Odd Fellow III" was sent from the station Bodø to assist the disabled ship and had arrived on scene at 11 a.m. The two ferries ‘Bodø‘ (IMO-N: 9151010) and ‘Vaerøy‘ (IMO: 9607382) as well as the lifeboat "Det Norske Veritas" were on the way too. There were also reports of smoke development associated with the reserve engine due to hot water, but no fire, and the situation was under control. There was nevertheless some heat development in the engine room. The JRCC sent a smoke diver group with a Sea King helicopter and was ready to move out with a so-called RITS team to assist if the situation worsened. At 11.42 a.m. the 'Det Norske Veritas’ took the ferry in tow and started dragging it to Bodø with four knots. The other three ships on scene escorted the convoy. The ferry was safe in port at 3 p.m. It left the port of Bodø after checks on June 6 at 5.40 p.m. and resumed its service from Moskenes at 8.45 p.m. Norwegian reports with photos and video: https://www.lofotposten.no/ferge/moskenes/bodo/landegode-fikk-motorproblemer/s/5-29-495719 https://www.nordlys.no/ferge/roykutvikling/nordland/stor-redningsaksjon-etter-roykutvikling-i-ferge-med-168-om-bord/s/5-34-1135183 https://www.nrk.no/nordland/full-stans-for-bilferge-med-155-passasjerer-1.14577142
Sailings cancelled due to technical failure
A technical failure aboard the "Landegode" forced operator Torghatten Nord to cancel a number of departures on Oct 13, 2017. The ferry was sidelined in Bodø. The sailings from Bodø at 04.45 a.m., from Røst at 08.30 a.m., and from Værøy at 10.15 a.m., from Bodø at 4 p.m., from Røst at 7.45 p.m, from Værøy at 9.30 p.m. and from Moskenes to Værøy at 8.30 p.m. have been canceled. The departure from Bodø and directly to Mosken at 4.30 p.m. was postponed until 10.30 p.m. with an estimated arrival at Moskenes on Oct 14 at 2 a.m. The ferry sailed from Bodø on Oct 14 at 8.30 and was docked at the Skarvik AS in Svolvaer at noon for repairs.
