Lady sailing again
The hull and bottom of the "Lady von Büsum" was surveyed by divers and naval experts in the morning of May 7 following its grounding. The ship was then allowed to resume its service and started its next trip to Helgoland and back to Büsum at 9.15 a.m. the same foremidday.
Transfer of passengers delayed
The first attempt to take off the 136 passengers of the "Lady von Büsum which had got stuck near the seal banks at Buschsand, about three miles west of Trischen island, on May 6 failed due to the low water level at the uncharted sand bar. At 9 p.m. the next attempt was started to transfer them onto the passenger m/v "Ol Büsum" (IMO: 6618691). They were expected back in Büsum around 10 p.m. Only one couple had been evacuated in the run of the day, the man was in need of medicaments at 7 p.m. and was accompanied by his wife to shore. The "Lady von Büsum" refloated around 9.30 p.m. and proceeded back to Büsum where it berthed at 10.30 p.m. Divers were to undertake a survey of the hull in port.
