Grounded ferry refloated
On June 27 the KMP 'Nusa Dua' was successfully refloated and towed by a tug to Gilimanuk. After the ship, carrying 160 people, including 13 crew members, six motorcycles, 21 four wheeled vehicles (minibuses, sedans), 12 pickup trucks, one bus and two trucks, had suffered an engine failure and ran aground, towing operations initially did not work. The joint SAR team thereupon evacuated all passengers in a safe condition and transported them to Gilimanuk port with the help of ASDP Gilimanuk vehicle.
Grounding off Gilimanuk
The 'Nusa Dua' with 160 passengers on board ran aground in the Bali Strait off Gilimanuk, Western Bali, on June 26, 2022, at around 04.10 a.m. WITA, while approaching the port en route from Ketapang, East Java. All passengers were evacuated and transferred to Gilimanuk, no injures reported. An engine failure and high waves were believed to be the cause of grounding.
Truck broke from its ropes in storm
The "Nusa Dua" (IMO: 8314706) was battered by high waves and strong winds, which caused a truck on board to fall to its side while sailing through the Bali Strait enroute from the Ketapang Banyuwangi Port to Gilimanuk Port, Bali on May 12, 2019. The truck loaded with timber was swayed hard resulting in it breaking off from the ropes and falling against the ship's side accordingly.
