Shrimper grounded off Rømø
The "Katharine" ran aground on July 6, 2016, at 2.10 a.m. SW of Rømø island and alerted the German lifeboat Station List upon Sylt. The shrimper had suffered a bottom touch between two sand bars and was then pushed by strong currents and NW winds of 7 Beaufort onto the sands. The lifeboat "Pidder Lüng" rushed to the scene and reached the grounding site at 2.30 a.m. The shrimper had been pushed already high onto the sands and was hit by swells of three meters height. The lifeboat managed to establish a towing Connection in spite of the severe seas and pulled the "Katharine" back to deeper water. It escorted the casualty back to its homeport Havneby because it had suffered rudder damage in the grounding.
