Ferry assisted distressed fishermen
On Feb 20, 2016, the "Karlsøy" came to the rescue of two fishermen in the Kaldfjord off Kvaløya in Tromsø at 3 p.m.. Their fishing boat had lost propulsion, and they needed immediate assistance. The JRCC notified the "Karlsøy" which had trouble to lower a rescue boat due to strong winds and high seas. The two managed to climb onto a rock, and the ferry remained on scene and waited for the lifeboat "Kaptein Skaugen" which was called from Sommarøy and picked up the men at 4 p.m. Norwegian report with photo: http://www.nordlys.no/redningsaksjon-utenfor-tromso/s/5-34-372364
