Russian longliner ran aground
On Oct 30, 2024, the 'Kalam' ran aground in pos. 61° 05' N 172° 03' E in the Glubokaya Bay off the northeastern coast of Kamchatka in the Bering Sea. There were 31 crew members on board. There was no damage to the hull of the vessel and no oil spill. Eastern Interregional Investigative Department for Transport (VMSUT) of the Investigative Committee of the Russian was is conducting an investigation under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic safety rules and operation of water transport). The icebreaker 'Spravedlivy' was expected at the grounding site by Nov 4. The fishing vessel has sufficient fuel and food supplies.
