Crewman injured in anchor handling operations
On nov 17, 2013, at 8.30 a.m. theHumber RNLI lifeboat was launched on service to a medical evacuation from the "Stril Commander" 35 miles north east from Spurn Point. The vessel had requested assistance from Humber Coastguard to have a crewman evacuated after being injured during anchor handling operations. The Humber lifeboat crew were paged, and the "Pride of the Humber" had slipped her moorings at approximately 8.45am. Weather conditions were perfect with no wind and a flat calm sea. Radio contact was made with the "Stril Commander" at 9.10 a.m., preparations were then made to recieve the injured crewman. At 9.30 a.m. the Humber lifeboat arrived on scene and immediately went along side the Stril Commander to evacuate the injured man. The evacuation was carried out without any difficulties, with the injured man being transferred safely. Once onboard he was checked by the lifeboat crew and observational checks were carried on return to Hull. The Humber lifeboat arrived at the outer steps at King George Docks at approximately 11.05 a.m. where the injured crewman was handed over to the ambulance paramedics and taken to Hull Royal Infirmary.
