Excursion ship heavily damaged by fire in Flensburg
On July 4, 2017, around 3 a.m. a fire broke out aboard the "Jürgensby“ in the inner port of Flensburg. When the fire brigade, which was alerted at 3.15 a.m., arrived, a saloon in the lower deck was already fully engulfed in flames. On scene were also the volunteer forces from Lues and an ambulance. As it was initially uncleare whether there were still persons on board, the ship was searched under heavy respiratory protection, but no one was aboard. Immediately firefighting started which was complicated by the intense heat and intense smoke development also on the upper deck. The fire fighters had to be dropped off with a ladder on the upper deck and break up the door of the upper saloon. The fire was out after 1,5 hours. The saloon in the lower deck was completely gutted, other parts of the ship heavily damaged by fire and smoke. The ship has been laid up in Flensburg since several years as the plans to establish a regular connection to Danish ports had failed due to restrictions and an engine damage in 2014. The future of the ship thus remained unclear regarding the damage of around 100.000 Euro, as well as the cause of the fire. Arson was not ruled out. Passenger ships untied in Flensburg
In the night of May 3 to May 4, 2016, both the "Jügensby" and the passenger m/v "Möwe" were untied in the port of Flensburg. The "Möwe" allided with the water terrace of the restaurant Heimathafen at the inner tip of the port. The damage had yet to be assessed, both ships were secured by the water police which launched an investigation.

Die "Seebad Borby" ist an den Flensburger Reeder Hans-Peter Ketelsen verkauft worden. Das Schiff hat den ursprünglichen Namen "Jürgensby" wieder erhalten und soll im Ausflugs- und Linienverkehr auf der Flensburger Förde eingesetzt werden.
