Grounding in Kiel Canal
The "Christopher", enroute from Gdynia to Hamburg, rn into the embankment of the Kiel Canal close to Brunsbüttel during the westbound transit on June 7, 2019, at 3.10 p.m. The tug "Luchs" which was serving as stern tug for the lock passage in Brunsbüttel pulled the ship out. It was then berthed at the northern Navy Pilings in Brunsbüttel for inspection and class confirmation. On June 8 at 4.40 a.m. the ship was released and continued its voyage to Hamburg. At 8 a.m. it berthed at the Container-Terminal Altenwerder. Container ship released after arrest following allision
The "Christopher" was arrested at Bronka Port in St. Petersburg, after a court ruling. https://www.dp.ru/a/2017/05/04/V_portu_Bronka_arestovan. The port operator, Company Fenix (Phoenix), sued the owner of the ship for berth damages caused when the ship allided with berth No.6 on Apr 6, and, according to the claimant, virtually destroyed the berth, which was in need of a total overhaul with an estimated damage at some $ 2,7 mil. The port and owner reached an out-of-court agreement on covering the losses. The vessel was impounded as a guarantee and left St. Petersburg on Apr 27. On May 5 the vessel was underway on the Northsea, en route to Antwerp.
Detention at Southampton for 3 days
