Still no trace of missing student
The student of the Maritime Aacademie of the ROC in Den Helder, who is missing since June 19, 2011, has not yet been found. Search for missing man stopped by Canadian Coast Guard
The Canadian Coast Guard have stopped the search for a missing 20-year-old man believed to have gone overboard and into the waters off Newfoundland's Southeast coast Friday night. The search began when he was reported missing to the coast guard at about 6:45 a.m. on Saturday. The ship he was last seen on, the Alaskaborg, was turned around and backtracked along its path. In addition, the coast guard tasked two of its ships, a coast guard auxiliary vessel and a Hercules plane to assist in the search. However, the 20-year-old was not found and the search was called off Saturday night.
No trace of missing sailor
The search for a missing sailor from the "Alaskaborg" was going on on June 18, 2011. In the afternoon, several Canadian Coast Guard vessels and a Hercules aircraft were searching the roughly 300 kilometre stretch of open ocean.The Maritime Search and Rescue Centre in St. John's received a call from the ship Alaskaborg in the early morning that a 20 year-old crew member didn't report for his duty watch and was feared to have fallen overboard. The man was last seen onboard at 9:30 p.m. on June 17. The search area, about 130 kilometres south of Cape Race, covered the path the ship had taken during the approximately nine hours between the time the man was last seen and the time he was reported missing. The "Alaskaborg" was en route from Baie Comeau, Quebec, to England.
