Human remains brought to Alexandria

The "John Lethbridge", having been contracted by the Egyptian government, has recovered all mapped human remains under water at the crash site of EgyptAir flight MS804 in the Mediterranean. The ship headed to Alexandria port to hand over the remains to coroners and prosecution officials. It will return to the crash site to make further checks for any possible remains there. Debris from the jet was brought to Cairo airport last week, where investigators will try to reassemble part of the frame to help establish what might have caused the disaster.

The "John Lethbridge", which was chartered by the Egyptian authorities, left the area where the Egypt Air flight crashe, on June 15, with its mission for detection and localization of signals being accomplished. The survey vessel went into action on June 9, being equipped with a robot submarine and a towed platform built by the French company iXBlue. Based on the positions given by the "Laplace", the ship found and identified several sites and wreckage during the recent days before eventually recovering the voice recorder of the aircraft. The crew was as forced to salvage the device in stages because it was extensively damaged, but was able to retrieve the memory unit. The second black box, which contains the flight data recorder, has yet to be found. It was expected to stop emitting signals in about a week.
