Several rescue operations off Calais
On Nov 8, 2021, the CROSS Gris-Nez owas informed that a boat was in difficulty off Calais and deployed a semi-rigid of the maritime gendarmerie to assist, which picked up 6 castaways and dropped them off at the port of Calais where they were taken care of by the border police. In the night of Nov 9, the CROSS Gris-Nez was informed that several boats were in difficulty off Calais. The 'Jean Ango' located a boat which was taken over by the lifeboat 'SNS 077 Notre Dame du Risban'. The 32 castaways (among them 4 women and a child) were taken on board and dropped off at the port of Calais. The lifeboat 'SNS 087-Jean Bart 2' assisted 36 migrants who were brought back to the port of Dunkirk. The lifeboat 'SNS 076-President Jacques Huret' located a boat with 44 castaways. They were taken aboard the 'Abeille Languedoc' and dropped off at the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer. In another mission the 'Abeille Languedoc' rescued 42 castaways and dropped them off at the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer. The 'Jean Ango' assisted 12 castaways who were brought back to the port of Calais. The PSP 'Cormoran' was engaged in two rescue operations during which it recovered 70 castaways and dropped them off at the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer.
New hopper dredger TSHD 'Jean Ango' delivered to French customer
The hopper dredger “Jean Ango” has been handed over to its owner, Dragages-Ports. The 1,500 m3 dredger was designed and built in Spain by Astilleros de Murueta, using Damen dredging equipment. The new vessel will maintain the French river Seine between Rouen and Le Havre, said in the company's press release. The “Jean Ango” has specifically been designed for round the clock maintenance dredging. The 1,500 m3 hopper dredger is fitted out with a 600 mm trailing pipe, working at a dredging depth of max -26m.
