Jamie Marie refloated
The "Jamie Marie" was able to get off the beach after having been stuck about 1,000 feet North of the last shipwreck, the "Privateer" on the beach in Ocean Shorejust North of the North Jetty with a catch of hake. Crews were able to get the ship facing out before sand began to swamp the aft and propeller. In the afternoon of May 23 she was sunk into the sand by about 12 feet. They were unable to float out under their own power at the next high tide in the afternoon, but with the aid of a tug, the "Jamie Marie" broke loose at high tide in the early morning of May 24. Fishing vessel aground at Ocean Shores
The "Jamie Marie" ran into trouble off the coast of Ocean Shores on May 23, 2016. The vessel was heavily loaded with fish when it ran aground. The Coast Guard launched rescue choppers around 1 a.m. and made sure everybody on board the beached vessel was safe. There were no injuries and no reports of fuel spilled. There were 4000 gallons of diesel fuel and 60 gallons of lubrication oil on board. As much as 300,000 pounds of Pacific Whiting fish may have to be off-loaded into a vehicle or dumped in order to remove the vessel. The crew chose to stay on board to maintain the catch and ready the vessel to be refloated beginning at the 3:30 p.m. high tide. A tug was in place to pull the vessel from the beach during the next high tide at around 2:30 a.m. on May 24 just in case the refloat plan failed.
