Nine pirates brought to shore and arrested

The Mumbai police arrested nine pirates who were brought to Mumbai on April 3, five days after the Indian Navy caught them for hijacking the Iranian fishing vessel 'Al Kambar 786' with 23 Pakistani crew members on board off the Somalia coast after more than 12 hours of intense coercive tactical measures as part of an anti-piracy operation on March 29. At the time of the incident, the vessel was approximately 90 nautical miles southwest of Socotrain the Indian Ocean. The operation involved the INS 'Sumedha' and the guided missile frigate INS 'Trishul'.

Indian Navy freed hijacked fishing vessel

The Indian Navy freed 23 Pakistan crew from the hijacked Iranian ship 'Al Kambar 786' on March 29,, 2024, and forced the pirates, which had hijacked the ship on March 28, to surrender. Specialist teams of the Indian Navy were sanitising the Iranian ship. They were also checking its seaworthiness. The ship was to escorted to its destination so that it could resume regular fishing activities. The 'AI-Kambar' was intercepted by the INS 'Sumedha', which was later joined by the guided missile frigate INS 'Trishul'. At the time of the incident the fishing vessel was approximately 90 nautical miles southwest of Socotra.
