First supply ship docked in Aden

The "Han Zhi" arrived in Aden wtih 3000 tons supplies on July 21, 2015. The ship was chartered by the World Food Program, the United Nations’ antihunger agency. It was the first vessel chartered by the agency to reach Aden since the Yemen conflict escalated nearly four months ago, when a Saudi Arabia-led bombing campaign began against Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The cargo was enough to feed 180,000 people for one month. Muhannad Hadi, the agency’s regional director, called the ship’s safe arrival a major breakthrough for our humanitarian response in Yemen, which has been frustrated by extremely limited access to the poorest in the Arab world. The World Food Program has made repeated attempts to send ships to Aden but all had been blocked because of fighting.
