Trawler towed to Kirkenes
In the afternoon of March 19, 2020, the 'Izumrud' got its whole trawl bag in the propeller and was disabled in the Barents sea. Together with the Russian rescue ship 'Atriya', the NSSR boat 'Reidar Von Koss' assisted the disabled vessel. The lifeboat took over the tow which the Russian salvage ship left to drift across the border despite rough seas. After ten hours, the trawler was safely berthed at DykkNor in Kirkenes for further assistance on March 20 at 7.40 a.m. The trawler sailed on March 26 at 8.10 a.m. The vessel was headed back to the fishing grounds with an ETA as of March 29. Disabled prawn trawler under tow to Norwegian coast
In the afternoon of Mar 17, 2016, the "Kvalstein" suffered a total engine failure 300 miles North of the Norwegian coast. The patrol boat "Svalbard" was dispatched to assist the vessel which was adrift amid strong winds and heavy seas which made it difficult and risky to establish a towing connection. Wave heights were seven to eight meters, so the "Svalbard" had to wait until the afternoon of Mar 18 to start a salvage attempt. The first attempt failed, but the next was successful. The trawler safely berthed in Havøysund, Tromsø, on Mar 20 at 9.45 p.m. Norwegian report with photos: http://www.nrk.no/finnmark/dramatisk-bergingsaksjon-til-havs-1.12863749 http://www.nordlys.no/helse/var/kystvakten/traler-fikk-totalhavari-55-mil-fra-norskekysten-fikk-ikke-slep-for-over-et-dogn-senere/s/5-34-389948
