Isoldana sailing again
The "Isoldana" after having run into the embankment of the Kiel Canal between Schwartenbek and Großkönigsförde in the morning of Jan 23, resumed its voyage after investigations were completed on Jan 24 at 11.20 a.m. The grounding was caused by the narrowness of the fairway as the ship tried to pass an approaching vessel at 8.10 a.m. on Jan 23 and got on the shore. It belongs to the class of the largest ships to be able to pass the Kiel Canal. It suffered only superficial damage in the grounding and is expected in Rauma on Jan 26 at noon now.
Bulkcarrier grounded in Kiel Canal
Enroute Antwerp-Rauma the "Isoldana" ran into the embankment of the Kiel Canal near Schinkel in the morning of Jan 23, 2013. The tug "Kiel" was called from Kiel and pulled the ship off. It was towed to the Voith Quay in the North Port of Kiel where it docked at 10.30 a.m. Police boarded the ship and ordered it to be detained for investigations.
