Old icebreaker may be scrapped
There has not been much interest in buying two of the three old Danish icebreakers the defense offered for sale in 2012. The "Danbjørn" and "Isbjørn" have long been inactive in Hals, and if there is not soon a buyer found, they will be scrapped. So far, a buyer had to sign that the purchase was for further operation but now he can also choose to scrap the ships. In 2016, the third and smallest icebreake, the "Thorbjørn", found a new home with Nordane Shipping in Svendborg but remained inactive too. The icebreakers have been on sale since the Folketing in 2012 decided to stop the state-owned ice-breaking service.
