Four crew members tested positive for coronavirus
Four Chinese crew of the 'Isabela Island', which remained at anchor in the bay of Valparaíso, have been hospitalized at a clinic in the Region for Covid-19 infections. They were all reported to be stable by the Ministerial Regional Secretary for Health, Francisco Álvarez. The rest of the crew was still on board the ship in good condition, and under the precautions that must be taken by the health authority. The quarantine of the bulkcarrier was still in force and will be extended if necessary. On March 28, two Chinese crew members aged 24 and 33 years were confirmed positive for the Covid-19 test. On April 1, three new cases were confirmed on board, corresponding to Chinese crew members of 20, 31 and 42 years. The ship came from the port of Guayaquil, Ecuador, and was destined for San Antonio, and was at anchor since March 25.
Three Chinese crew members hospitalized with coronavirus
The Regional Ministerial Secretary (Seremi) of Health of the Valparaíso Region, Francisco Álvarez, on March 30, 2020, reported that three Chinese crew members of the 'Isabela Island' were hospitalized in a clinic in Valparaíso with Covid-19. The rest of the crew was in good condition. The ship was sailing from Guayaquil to the port of San Antonio when one of its crew started sufferding from fever, so it was diverted to the port of Valparaíso where it anchored on March 25. Subsequently, personnel from the Epidemiology Department of the Van Buren Hospital in Valparaíso boarded the ship to take samples corresponding to Covid-19 from two people with symptoms, which were positive.
